Our mission

The Greater Springer Area Economic Development Corporation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to fostering sustainable economic growth in Springer and the surrounding communities of Colfax County, New Mexico. We work to attract new investment, support the businesses already here, and improve the conditions that let families and enterprises thrive on the high plains.

Small communities don't grow by accident. They grow when local people organize, make the case for their town, and do the unglamorous work of connecting opportunity to place. That's the work we've taken on.

What guides us

Local first. Decisions about the Springer area should be made by people rooted in the Springer area.
Retention before recruitment. The businesses and families already here matter most; keeping them strong is our foundation.
Honest about who we are. We don't oversell. We match the right opportunities to a community that has real advantages and real needs.
Stewardship. Growth should respect the land, the history, and the character of northeastern New Mexico.

Led by a volunteer board

GSAEDC is governed by a board of local volunteers who serve the organization and the community. As a nonprofit corporation, we operate transparently and reinvest our efforts entirely in the greater Springer area.

Our place

Springer was established in 1882 along the railroad and the old Santa Fe Trail, and for a time served as the seat of Colfax County. Today it's a Main Street community of a few hundred residents along Interstate 25, set between the Sangre de Cristo Mountains and the open high plains, with the Cimarron River running nearby.

That combination — an interstate location, affordable land, deep history, and a tight-knit population — is exactly what makes the greater Springer area worth investing in. Our job is to make sure the rest of the world knows it.
